U.S. Capitol Christmas Tree 2015

Washington DCPosted by Kacy

22 Dec

Not to be repetitive, but this has been one of the most hectic holiday seasons for me in recent memory. Every day seems to fly by before I can get half of what I need and want to do accomplished. That, along with some rude interactions with fellow human beings, has made it rather difficult for me to get into the Christmas spirit this year. It’s also always harder on the years I’m not able to go to Oklahoma and see my family. It just doesn’t feel like Christmas without a hug from all the people I love.
But I’m trying. Yesterday, after a crazy day of work, a much-needed Zumba class and more gift shopping I decided it was time to trek over to see the U.S. Capitol Christmas Tree in an effort to fill my heart with good cheer.
U.S. Capitol Christmas TreeLast year, we lived within walking distance of the National Tree and now we’re within walking distance to the Capitol Tree. Living in DC isn’t always easy, but it’s things like this that make me swoon over my hometown.
U.S. Capitol treeThe Capitol Tree is huge! It’s a 74-foot-tall Lutz Spruce from Alaska decorated with 4,000 ornaments.
Capitol Christmas Tree 2015It was a warm-ish night to play around, and there weren’t many other people there visiting, so we tried to catch a tree selfie. It didn’t go so well.

I’m looking forward to getting to know some of Tom’s family better who we don’t see that often, watching Ashton “open” his stocking and a little time off work.
Until then, it’s back to the chaos I go, as cheerfully as possible.
