SER is celebrating Spanish culture and cuisine with their second annual Gastronomic Week. The Ballston restaurant has always given diners a true taste of Spain, but from now until Sunday, October 9th guests can enjoy Spanish pintxos – small Spanish snacks popular in the Basque country – in addition to the usual menu items.
Executive Chef Josu Zubikarai and guest Chef Sara Perez are combining their culinary efforts to create a beautiful and authentic array of their favorite pintxos. We attended SER’s “pintxos party” last night and I have to tell you that this is an event you should definitely not miss.
These light, fresh bites focus heavily on fresh seafood and vegetables, but meat and cheese lovers won’t be left wanting either. Pair them with a light and crisp Spanish Albariño or a fruity sangria, and prepare to have your senses fully delighted.
Come for the pintxos, but definitely stay for dinner. Offerings range from a fresh seafood, a selection of Spanish meats and cheeses, a diverse range of tapas and heartier main dishes. We particularly enjoyed the bacalau tempura, table side jamon, garlicky shrimp and melt-in-your-mouth steak tartare.
If you’re feeling adventurous, be sure to try the percebes – steamed gooseneck barnacles shipped from Spain.
And, of course, you can’t leave without ordering dessert. SER covers all of the bases from flan to rice pudding to a decadent chocolate soufflé.
If you prefer to drink your dessert, try one of the inventive coffee cocktails for an energizing way to end the meal.
Chef Zubikarai’s passion for his culture is evident in each delicious bite and his enthusiasm for the cuisine is infectious. As much as I’m still dying to eat my way around Spain, a night at SER is the next best thing.
Stop by SER anytime between now and Sunday, October 9th during happy hour and dinner service to feast on the mouth-watering pintxos. SER also offers lunch, brunch, dinner and happy hour.
