Right Proper Brewpub & Kitchen

Restaurant Reviews· Washington DCPosted by Kacy

16 Feb

Every week I write about some stuff I did and review a new (or new to me) restaurant.
This past week was quite a bit more eventful than usual. We got out and about a lot more than I’m used to, and also got some really big news at the end of the week. On March 25th, we’re leaving for Brazil for at least three months!

Instead of moving to Columbia Heights, as planned, we’re going to put our stuff in storage and pack some bags and live Brazilian style.
I’m pretty excited. This will be a great opportunity for us to get outside of our comfort zones and get a change of perspective. It will also allow us to save a ton of money, and hopefully do a lot of traveling around Brazil and other parts of South America.

I still haven’t really wrapped my head around the fact that we’re leaving in just a little over five weeks. We have so much to do!
So while I try to sort out all of the feelings, how about a little restaurant review?

Last week, on a nice day very unlike the weather we’re enduring this week, we walked over to Right Proper Brewing Company in Shaw. This was my second time eating here, and I got the exact same thing as I did last time.
Right Proper Chick FiletIt’s all about the sandwiches. Tom and I shared the Southern Fried Chick Filet and the BBQ Pulled Pork Sandwich (not pictured).
We also split the pickle plate and a side of cheese grits.

Right Proper cheese gritsComfort food done right. I’m actually not a big fan of the beer at Right Proper, but the food is outstanding. I love that you get great quality casual cuisine at a great price. The only downfall of the meal was the dessert.
Right Proper Panna CottaThe Vanilla Panna Cotta with pistachio “soil” lacked focus. The pistachios dominated the rest of the flavors of the dish, and the panna cotta itself was a little bit too gummy. Next time, we’ll just order an extra chicken sandwich for dessert.

Omg!! I’m so excited it worked out and you’re going! I don’t like knowing you’ll be so far away from me for three months but I can’t wait to hear all about your international excursions. Yayayay!

Hi Kacy! I’m the Assistant General Manager over at Right Proper, and I just wanted to say thanks for the review! We recently brought on a new chef, Sarah Biglan, and she has been stepping up a lot of the items on our menu. We appreciate all feedback, so I will definitely let her know your thoughts on dessert. I know she has added a few new dessert items already, and has big plans to completely revamp that section of our menu.
Best of luck in Brazil! We hope to see you before you go or when you guys get back.
