I am still sorting through all of my photos and thoughts from our trip to California, so expect to see many more posts about our amazing time there the next couple of weeks! In the meantime, I’ve been drowning in deadlines and inconveniently am off to jury duty today. I’ve never been called before, but it was bound to happen eventually. (Is it weird that I’m mildly excited about it?)
I did want to share with you some of the pictures I took of Light Yards, the two-week-long installation melding light, sculpture and music to create wonder in Yard’s Park.
The event took place right in my backyard. We caught a little bit of the first night, but wanted to be sure to check out the giant luminescent bunnies as well.
We were exhausted all last weekend from our trip, so it was hard to tear away from the couch on a cloudy Sunday evening to go see the exhibit. But I’m a big proponent of always taking advantage of free, fun things to do, and the quirkiness of the bunnies was definitely worth it.
The giant luminescent bunnies exhibit was created by Amanda Parer; you can read more about her here.
In addition to the Light Yards, it turned out to be a gorgeous night in DC as the sun set over the Anacostia River. Ashton was with us, so we took a walk over the bridge and watched nature’s light show as well.
Light Yards is over, but it feels like Spring in the district and I’m ready for many more weekend nights in Yards Park to come.
That’s a pretty cool event to have seen and a good visual reminder that Easter 2016 is about three weeks away. Yikes!
