Christmas in the District

Washington DCPosted by Kacy

16 Dec

In an effort to get into the holiday spirit, Tom and I took Ashton on a walk to the 2014 National Christmas Tree by the White House last night.
CityCenter Christmas Tree DC 2014The night was warm, compared to recent temperatures, so it was perfect for a long stroll. On our way, we passed another huge tree outside of the new CityCenter downtown. It’s amazing how fast that area has built up, with lots of high-end shops and two new upscale restaurants.
Christmas Tree CityCenter DC 2014This tree is huge, and I can’t help but wonder if a few tourists could have been confused and mistaken it for the national tree. Then again, there were no crowds, so probably not.

We walked on, until we came to the main event. I had to pick Ashton up to keep him from being trampled underfoot or stolen by a small child.
National Christmas Tree 2014 DCEven on a Monday, it was packed so we didn’t go inside the fence and chose to enjoy from the sidelines.
National Christmas Tree DC 2014I hope to never stop enjoying being a tourist in my own town.

Looks like a lot of fun! I’m glad you’re able to play tourist in your own city 🙂
